NEW PROJECT: OWLS Digital Inclusion Cafe!

Published by Victoria Norman on

We are so excited to share that we are starting a new Digital Cafe with OWLS in Headingley!

Lik our other Digital Cafe’s this project will improve digital literacy for people of all ages! The project is essential for the sustainability of older adults improving their digital literacy in the local community to reduce their digital exclusion.

With our previous projects at Daisyfield Grange, we have seen older adults’ confidence in using digital devices improve to the point of them purchasing their loaned devices or upgrading their personal devices, despite initial reluctance to engage with smart devices. The group sessions have allowed older adults to meet new people asking for the same support which has created friendships and peer support in the community. Evidence of their digital literacy improving through support sessions has also allowed older adults to join zoom calls with family members which in effect reduces the digital and social isolation of older adults. Thus, in further support of the project, the expertise of the older adults will only improve to consequently become digital experts to support older adults self-sufficiently.

If you think you’d be interested in attending, these sessions will be running weekly from mid-September to mid-December at OWLS in Headingley on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm!

To make this Digital Cafe the best it can be we are going to need help from some lovely volunteers! See details below on how to apply!
