Bramley Walking Football Tournament Highlights

Published by Tony Mullin on

A great morning down at the Bramley Park Arena today as the Mae Care Walking Football Extra Timers from Moor Allerton brought down 3 very strong teams to play in the inaugral Bramley Arena walking football tournament. An early rain shower threatened to put a dampener on proceedings but then came the un-forecasted sun and a brilliant morning was had by all.

Some fantastic goals, some superb goalkeeping, all 6 teams served up a veritable feast of football. The only controversy really surrounding the appearance of Kyra Rowe on the ‘Your Back Yard’ team (daughter of ex professional Huddersfield footballer Rodney Rowe), whose claims to be over the age of 50 when looking about 21 were doubted by some who clearly had had a harder paper round.

Big thanks to David Wynick the coach from MaeCare – Moor Allerton Elderly Care Extra Timers for bringing not just his teams, but the goals, and for Colin Rosenstone for doing such a superb job of reffing some very competitive, occasionally spicy, encounters!

Unfortunately there’s no time for breaks! Now back to the training ground to hone those football skills, so much for not teaching an old dog new tricks!!
