A Virtual Hello!

Published by Kyra Rowe on

Hello everyone, my name is Kyra (AKA the new Sydney), and I am super excited to introduce myself as a new member of the Your Back Yard team. I have just completed my second year of studies at the University of Leeds studying International Development. The usual reaction to my degree is ‘what on earth does that mean?’ So, in a nutshell without boring you too much! I explore global and local societal issues of underdevelopment in hand with development theories and practices in the third sector – which is where my knowledge and passion to work at Your Back Yard comes to play. My main focus regarding community development and sustainable regeneration interplays with the moral importance of equality and inclusivity when aiming to better local communities for everyone.

As we are all seeing the light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel I look forward to warmly meeting many of you at our in person or online events! I am particularly looking forward to meeting many of you at our walking football tournament on the 19th of September at Bramley Park. Whilst I will be trying my absolute best on the day not to be bias – Bramley Walking Wanderers you need to bring it home for us at Your Back Yard! (You can find out more information about our tournament here ).

I am currently familiarising myself with the projects we currently have in the pipeline at Your Back yard – so if you want to email me any questions, queries, or suggestions about our current projects, I would love to hear from you. If you also have any societal needs not being met, suggestions for future sustainable projects in your local community or need someone to talk to, feel free to email me at kyra@yourbackyard.org.uk (don’t be shy!).

To keep updated on what Your Back Yard and I are doing in your local area, make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter @Your Back Yard.

Take care, Kyra.
