Just a quick update on what we are up to now and a brief summary of current government advice.
As you can imagine, many of our activities have unfortunately come to a halt due to the lockdown and the social distancing measures currently in place. These activities will resume as soon as it is safe to do so, and we are looking forward to seeing you all again.
Just before lockdown began, we got approval on a new project based in the Windmill Hill area of Runcorn with Big Local. We will be helping them develop a five year plan to improve the local area, so this is keeping us busy for the meantime! There will soon be a website post with more information on this project for anyone who is interested.
Positively, the Government has recently announced that we can now go outside more than once a day for exercise and many facilities associated with outdoor sports such as golf courses are starting to re-open, which is a step towards normalcy and will benefit many people both physically and mentally. A £210 million package of government and National Lottery funding has also been developed to help the sport and physical activity sector through this crisis, which is great to see.
There has also be the brilliant #StayinWorkOut campaign which has seen people come together to exercise from their own homes. Along those lines, we are currently looking for funding for a project that would allow us and our brilliant pool of instructors to provide some of our usual sessions in an online format via interactive livestreams. This project would have two key outcomes: getting people more active and tackling loneliness and social isolation! If anyone is interested in getting involved with this project, please get in touch with us.
We will be providing weekly updates will useful resources/articles and any new government information so be sure to check back.
