Join Our Volunteering Team!
Thanks to our new Community Outreach and Volunteers Manager, Ayisha we’re now more than ever looking for volunteers to support our many projects and have the skills and capacity to recruit, train and support volunteers!
We currently have 2 volunteer roles available
Intergenerational Zoom Cafe Volunteer (Remote)
Can you spare just 30 minutes each week to join our Intergenerational Zoom Cafes? We deliver free and accessible exercise classes to older adults, offering a different class each weekday! After our Monday and Friday class our attendees stick around for a tea and a chat which you would lead!
- These sessions run twice a week until May 7th 2023
- Wednesdays 11:45am – 12:15am
- Fridays 10:45am – 11:15am
- Create a welcoming atmosphere on the zoom calls
- Lead the conversations with attendees, sometimes creating fun activities and quizzes!
- Monitor zoom cafe attendance
- Support older adults getting online
- Connect older adults to other YBY and local projects that can keep them social and locally connected
Digital Inclusion Volunteer (In person)
We help older adults and those with disabilities learn everything from the basics like sending emails and using Whatsapp or something more technical, like online shopping or downloading new kindle books! These are incredibly rewarding sessions helping people improve their digital skills and make a real change in their lives!
- We are currently running 2 Digital Inclusion Cafes
- Tuesdays, 2pm – 3.30pm, at OWLS in Headingley, running until the end of May
- Thursdays, 11 – 12 at Hamara Healthy Living Centre in Beeston, running until end of May
- This requires a commitment of 1-1.5 hours weekly/fortnightly or monthly (depending on the volunteer’s availability)
- These sessions give older adults a chance to learn about how to use their phones/tablets/laptops
- Volunteers will assist with helping them get connected to the internet, access applications, set up emails and more!
- Volunteers will help to plan the sessions and monitor attendance/ progress of our learners
