Blaming it on the 4G pitch!

On Sunday 18th, Bramley Walking Wanderers competed in a few friendly matches of walking football against Rothwell Old Boars, at Kirkstall Goals.

Despite a few of our players arriving fashionably late … our express delivery of new football training tops arrived on time, thanks to the funding the team received from councilor Kevin! Val and Martin were kind enough to model the tops so you can see them in action.

Once everyone arrived, Trevor (chairman) got the team in shape with a quick warm up session. After everyone’s heart rate got up, the matches kicked off.

Rothwell brought down two incredible refs and two very competitive teams (plus subs we had to borrow!) who scored some powerful goals against us. Despite us not winning any of the games apart from our Bramley vs Bramley match… our Walking Wanderers gave Rothwell a run for their money with great communication from Delores and superb goalkeeping from John.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no rest for the wicked. Our team of walking footballers are down at Kirkstall today to play a few games of walking football with a team of primary school kids – who I am sure will have them walking (not running) in circles!

If you want to join our team contact Tony (coach) at tony@yourbackyard.org.uk.
