Amongst us and our partners, a common finding is that men are consistently less likely to participate in online groups. At ‘Your Back Yard’, we found this particularly apparent in our ‘Getting Active and Online’ project.
To try and level the playing field, ‘Your Back Yard’ put in a bid to Leeds Older People’s Forum to run an online men’s group. Our partners on the project are 100% Digital Leeds, Crossgates and District GNS, Richmond Hill Elderly Action, MHA Communities Rothwell and District and OPAL.
So far we’ve watched everything from The 39 Steps, to Local Hero, to Climate Change: The Facts, to Calamity Jane! We’ve got some lovely regulars joining us each week too.
At the Your Back Yard Open Day in July, the group finally got to meet in person as they were all invited to the HEART Centre for an afternoon of laughs and sandwiches.
