Thanks to funding from Sport England, we have been able to organise a programme of free healthy living events targeted at inactive over 50s in the LS6/West Leeds area. The programme will run from November 2018-March 2019, and includes activities such as walking football, guided walks, yoga, bowls, and meditation, amongst others. We have been working with pre-existing groups such as OWLS, BEA and the Rhino Active Social in order to ensure a good turnout, but anyone is welcome!

See below for a copy of our flyer, which outlines the activities we have planned so far, but please do keep checking back here, on our Facebook page, and on our Twitter feed for any amendments, additions, and further details.

March 2019 Update

The project was a massive success, with around 400 people getting involved in total. We facilitated and delivered many popular activities such as walking football, yoga, meditation, table tennis, guided walks, and indoor bowls, with a range of different groups such as OWLS Lads Lunch, BEA Stroke Club, Rhino’s Active Social, Different Strokes, YCCC Catch Up Club, and men and women from Armley Mosque. Some of the sessions, such as the walking football and yoga sessions, were also open to the public.

Due to the success of the project, we are looking at applying for more funding to pay for more healthy-living activity provision in Leeds.

June 2019 Update

We have made 3 funding applications for different projects aimed at getting over 50s in Leeds more active. We have already heard that one of them has been successful, which we look forward to telling you all about soon.
