We are looking for a digital inclusion volunteer to support the extending of our ‘Digital Inclusion’ project. Check out the details of the volunteering role and how to apply below.

Project Opportunity 
To support us delivering an 8-week digital training course to older adults living at Daisyfield Grange. You will deliver 2hour long digital cafes every week at Daisyfield Grange for 8 weeks.

You would be a key part in our ‘Digital Inclusion’ project which aims to get older adults online to reduce the digital divide. This project also interlinks with our ‘Getting Active and Online’ project, which aims to increase activity and socialisation in older adults by providing free online exercise classes, whilst also providing tablets and training on how to use them. 

Duties: 

  • Receiving training to become a ‘digital champion’ (someone who is able to deliver digital training) 
  • Teaching older adults to use technology for 2 hours a week, for 8 weeks. 
  • Helping them to access our online exercise classes, as well as other useful things like connecting with friends and family, online shopping and accessing NHS advice 
  • Creating a welcoming atmosphere for the training sessions 

Necessary skills: 

  • Friendly and positive attitude 
  • Punctuality to the sessions 
  • Willingness to receive the training to become a ‘digital champion’ 
  • Patience, as teaching older adults can take a long time 
  • Confidence with the basic use of tablets e.g. how to send an email, use zoom and send a text. 

Benefits to you
You will undertake training to become a digital champion and understand how to deliver this information to older adults. You will develop skills in communicating with members of the community, teaching, confidence with technology and working in a team to deliver sessions. 

Location 
Bramley, Leeds.

Pay
£12.50 an hour.  

Duration 
8 weeks 

Induction 
There will be an induction process that will entail 

  • Role explanation 
  • Health and Safety and Safeguarding
