Last year we were commissioned by Bramley Elderly Action to provide digital support for their members. Members who were referred to the project were offered a digital device on loan for three months with the option to purchase at the end. Alongside the device loan, one to one digital support was given to older adults in need of digital support over the phone. As lockdown restrictions eased the tailored support for older adults shifted to group support sessions at Bramley Lawn club.

However, as funding came to an end and essential social services are continuously moving online such as, booking a doctors appointment the project needed to continue and expand to further develop the digital literacy of older adults.
Therefore, we successfully received funding from OP Forum who received grant money from Public Health to expand and continue our Digital Inclusion project in Bramley.
We will be running a fortnightly digital cafe on Wednesdays at Bramley Lawn Club at 2:30-4PM. In the week when the digital cafe at the lawn is not on we will be running a fortnightly digital cafe at Bramley Community Centre at 1-2:30PM!

So far the older adults have been learning how to use YouTube, send emails, airdrop between devices, text on WhatsApp, and use social media! We know they still have a long way to go and much more to learn about the online world but every digital cafe gets them that one step closer!
