We are very grateful to The Sported Foundation for their support in helping us deliver a Walking Football and Sporting Reminiscence Event at Armley Leisure Centre on Monday, 20th April 2026.
“Cash4Clubs is a small grants scheme focused on supporting adult participation in sport
and physical activity, particularly in areas of need. Cash4Clubs supports community
groups and grassroots sports organisations (like ours) who make sport more accessible
to people from underrepresented groups.”
This funding allows us to provide a welcoming two-hour session for older adults, including those living with dementia, combining gentle physical activity with opportunities to reconnect through shared sporting memories. Participants can take part in a walking football taster session, a slower-paced, non-contact version of the game that requires no running or prior experience.
Alongside this, we will host sporting reminiscence activities, encouraging people to share stories and memories from sport that spark conversation and social connection. The session will also include accessible activities such as Boccia, gentle movement, and coordination exercises; family members and carers are warmly encouraged to join.
We would like to thank The Sported Foundation for supporting this event and helping us continue creating inclusive opportunities for people to stay active, connected, and engaged in their community.
