Your Back Yard recently won a tender to work with Bradford council and Born in Bradford on how to get more children and young people, including their families, more physically active in Bradford. We are excited to be part of such a fantastic and large-scale project, as well as being able to work alongside these organisations!
This piece of work is aimed at 5-14 year olds who are at high risk of becoming inactive adults. To do this Bradford council is aiming to provide specific interventions to help improve children’s physical and mental well being, individual and family development, enhance quality of life, community development, active citizenship, reduce health inequalities, collaborative partnerships and engagement with communities.
Our role in this is to provide an audit of all the facilities and stakeholders providing sports and activities for 5-14 year olds across 9 different areas of Bradford, ranging from Allerton to Eccleshill. Here, we will be mapping and listing a variety of different stakeholders, such as schools, community groups and faith groups. This will help to inform to council of what, who and where there are/are not provisions for children and young people. From here, the council can aim to provide interventions and improve some of the things listed above.
